My name is Rachel. I have been teaching for almost 20 years, I taught adults and school aged children prior to my early childhood profession. I became a professional ECE teacher since 2007 as I graduated from Auckland University and got my practicing certificate at the time.

I enjoy play and learn with children and believe “teaching” and “learning” are happening at the same time as I believe children’s learning potential can be maximised when they are empowered, this is when the teachers need to do more research to support the children’s endless learning needs. I value individual child’s cultural background and respect their first language. Personally I speak English, Mandarin and Cantonese, experience told me that use the child’ first language is the best way to settle a child. I am open to learn other languages and culture.

I work with all my colleagues, children and their whanau as a family, and enjoy the good relationship with them at Morning Star Preschool, since I have been the Preschool for almost 10 years. I am pleased to be trusted and be part of the children’s learning journey.

My name is Jillian Wang and I joined Morning Star in 2015. I had my high school and bachelor studies in Christchurch. I developed an interest in teaching young children while working at a few fundraising programs overseas. Subsequently, I completed my Grad Dip in teaching from New Zealand Tertiary College and registered as an early childhood teacher in 2016.

I started to play piano since four, music plays a major part in my life. Music stimulates all areas of child development and skills including language, intellectual and social and so on, therefore I value the importance of music in children’s learning and my teaching. My philosophy on working with children is that they learn from play. I am passionate about providing children with a nurturing learning environment that helps promote their overall well-being and encourages them to learn through play.

It is amazing to be able to see my impact on children’s learning and development and of course, their beautiful smiles.
